MEMORY TEAHOUSE - MAY & JUNE 2026
This summer marked the first two gatherings of Memory Teahouse, a participatory installation exploring memory, place and belonging.
The project debuted at Creative Visions Foundation in Malibu in May, before traveling to Altadena Healing Village in June.
Inspired by the idea of a teahouse as a space for pause, conversation and exchange, the installation takes the form of a translucent light-filled structure surrounding a communal table. Visitors are invited to sit, gather and contribute a handwritten memory beginning with the words “This is where…” Over the course of the two gatherings, dozens of memories were collected - fragments of home, childhood, loss, love and place - becoming an evolving archive within the work.
Memory Teahouse grew out of my ongoing interest in creating soft, temporary spaces for reflection and connection, and in exploring how individual memories can become part of something collective. I’m continuing to archive the responses from these first gatherings as the project develops into its next iteration.
I’m deeply grateful to Creative Visions Foundation and Altadena Healing Village for giving the project its first homes, and to everyone who stepped inside and left a piece of their story behind.
