“Sky Spirit”: Searching For Serenity Exhibition Descanso Gardens

My latest work, “Sky Spirit” is part of “Searching For Serenity” Exhibition at Descanso Gardens from November 1st to January 4th, 2026.

Sky Spirit Textile Art Work

“Sky Spirit” by Faith-Ann Young

Sky Spirit:

A tribute to the sky—our ancient protector and quiet witness—this piece honors its grounding peace and enduring hope.

Capturing dancer Risa Maki in a free-form movement for unity, her gestures echo the sky’s fluid grace.

In my process, I layer portraits, landscapes, and my own brushstrokes into dreamlike photographic compositions printed on delicate fabric—transforming them into portals that invite reflection, presence, and renewal.

Medium: Photographic composition (dye sublimation on chiffon) thread, and acrylic rod

Dimensions: 29" × 33" inches

Edition: 1/3 + 1 A.P.

Searching for Serenity explores how communities can harness the healing power of art and nature. A response to 2025 wildfire disasters in Los Angeles County, this exhibition bridges creativity with personal storytelling. Participating artists share how a deep connection to nature can serve as a tool for individual transformation, renewal, and collective recovery.
