Michael Stipe of R.E.M.
My first video interview EVER was with Michael Stipe of R.E.M. in 2008. Prior to it, I must have released a Texan margarita glass worth of sweat.
Yet Michael was charming and yet introspective throughout (perhaps sensing my novice nerves.)
(SXSW, May 2008)
In the interview, he talked for one of the first times openly about coming out - which made waves amongst gay activists.
While the interview was only supposed to be 20 minutes but we chatted leisurely for a jaw-dropping 1 hr & 20 minutes. It's safe to say that this interview is reason I do what I do.

Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine
Backstory: we only had one mic, it was soundcheck, and there's a serious height difference. So Tom took hold of the mic. It's a decision I regret now every time I look at this footage...
Midtown NY, Summer 2008
Painting with Joseph Arthur
New York-based singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur is a free spirited, rennaissance man - who ceaselessly sings, paints and creates all day every day. Welcome to his world:

Introducing Perry Farrell to Lou Reed
When we heard the two music legends were both going to be at SXSW and had never met, we pulled every string to get them in the same room. Perry was late and Lou almost wouldn't see him -- but thankfully, the interview happened anyway. - SXSW 2008
Mumford and Sons
Note to self: Ben and Winston of the British folk troupe, "Mumford and Sons," are humble, incredibly shy and hence remarkably cute.
San Francisco, Spring 2010
VV Brown
It was early morning on one of the last days of SXSW, I was deathly hung over, and in waltzed VV, taking my break away by spontateously improving on an old out-of-tune piano. Priceless.
SXSW, May 2010
Sean Lennon and GOASTT
The boyfriend-girlfriend team Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl are in love. Which is why they loved drawing portraits of each other at the Independent in San Francisco.
Wayne Coyne + 2 Artists
A phone call with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips + time-lapsed video of painter S.A. Richard & illustrator David Fullarton doing portraits of the musician = RAD (at least in my head....)
SF + NY + internet, Spring 2010
Dragonette
We filmed the pixie lead singer of Dragonette, Martina Sorbara, in her tropicala-inspired hotel room one rainy afternoon.
The Pheonix Hotel, SF, Spring 2010
Dan Black Makes Animal Balloons
I coerced the Brit pop singer to try to blow up animal balloons while chatting. Did it work?
Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala
Business partners and best friends Justin and Trace talk about their inspiration for the Fall 2010 William Rast collection.
NYC, Spring 2010
Levi's Fader Fort w. the Boys
Tipsy and chilling with musicians Million $ Mano, Hollywood Holt and Ninjasonik at the Levi's Fader Fort.
Austin TX, Spring 2010
The Man Who Paints On Books
Mike Stilkey is a guy who remarkably and dedicatedly paints in, on, and over books - and creates book sculptures. No joke. He's got a Tim Burton-esque eccentric, whimsical style.
Alta Dena, CA, Spring 2010
Mr. Brainwash
The street artist Mr. Brainwash has been all over the press recently. Here, he walked me through his exhibit Icons in NYC - and taught me to turn broken vinyls into art.
